                        Other powers in Brasilia

     O primeiro passo foi fechar as portas e paralisar pra poder continuar já  que o corte de verbas ameaça o funcionamento da universidade. 

           The first step was to close the gates and to block any activity in order to continue working as fund cuts threatens the functioning of the university.

Os estudantes queriam defender a educação pública e também o emprego dos terceirizados.

     Students wanted to defend public education and also the employment of  the outsourced staff.

Os terceirizados queriam defender o emprego e também a educação pública.

                  Outsourced staff wanted to defend their jobs and also public education.

                 A solução foi partirem juntos para as ruas ...

                                The solution was to leave together to the streets aiming ...

pra ocupar o espaço público com o grito coletivo,

                                    to occupy public space with a collective cry;

pra desafiar a imponência dos monumentos com o humor, 

                           to challenge the monuments’ pomposity with humour;

e pra progredir em nome de uma outra ordem.

                                 and to progress on behalf of another order.

                               o poder das borboletas masculinas;

                       the power of male butterflies;

                          o poder da sempre presente Marielle Franco;

o  poder do humor para desvendar com o riso os trágicos rumos da educação nacional.

     Mas haveria ainda o poder da insidiosa ira de alguns disposta a ferir, em confronto catártico, tanto a Ordem como o Flower Power: de um lado, rostos cobertos e coquetéis molotov; no meio, cacos de vidro;  do outro lado, escudos, capacetes, porretes e sprays de pimenta para abafar outros poderes.

      But there would still be the power of the insidious wrath willing to hurt both the Order and the Flower Power in a cathartic confrontation: on one side, Molotov cocktails; in the middle, glass shatters; on the other side, shields, helmets, clubs and pepper sprays to stifle other powers.
