Seis Vidros Suspensos era uma das obra do Gerhard Richter exposta no Georges Pompidou, em Paris. Além dos vidros, os visitantes também estavam suspensos. Entre janelas, molduras e espelhos, eles se dividiam entre olhar as obras e a vista vespertina da cidade.

Six Standing Glass Panels was one of the works by Gerhard Richter exhibited at the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris. Besides the glass panels, visitors were also suspended. Strolling among windows, frames and mirrors, they were divided between seeing the works and the afternoon view of the city.

Em Pires do Rio, ainda era de manhã. A feira se desenrolava na praça abrigada por uma imensa cúpula de árvores. Havia ali também um aconchego de silhuetas circulando, mas os pés estavam mais próximos do chão.

It was still early morning in Pires do Rio (GO, Brazil). The fair was taking place in a square sheltered by a huge dome of trees. One would also find over there that same feel of coziness among silhouettes hanging around, but the feet were closer to the ground.

Para os Quatro Painéis de Vidro, Gerhard Richter chegou a pensar em comprar painéis prontos, mas em vez de ter que aceitar as dimensões de um ready made, ele optou por mandar fazer algo que atendesse melhor às suas exigências. De uma forma ou de outra, ready made verdadeiro ou falso, era ainda uma questão de dividir espaços e oscilar entre um lado e outro da transparência.

For the Four Panes of Glass, Gerhard Richter considered buying prefabricated panels, but instead of having to accept the dimensions of a ready made, he chose to have them made in a way that better fitted his requirements. One way or another, real of fake ready made, it was still a matter of dividing spaces and oscillating from one side to the other of the transparency.

Na série Aladim, o gênio volátil escapou de dentro da garrafa para observar o mundo do lado de fora.

In the series Aladdin, the volatile genius escaped the inside of the bottle in order to observe the outside world.

Resultado : uma confusão de tintas voluptuosas imiscuindo-se. Não vemos, porém, a textura da tinta, o lado de lá onde estava o pintor. Vemos no lado de cá a superficie de vidro liso virado pelo avesso.

The result was a lusty mixture of paints. We do not see, however, the texture of the paints, the side where the painter was. We see instead the flat glass surface turned inside out.

Às vezes as obras eram simplesmente espelhos para que os visitantes pudessem passar involuntariamente de um lado a outro das molduras.

Sometimes the works were nothing but mirrors so that visitors could involuntarily move from one side of the frame to the other.

Eventualmente éramos flagrados por entre as camadas de pinceladas devidamente cobertas de vidro para melhor nos capturar.

Eventually we were caught in between layers of brushstrokes duly covered with glass to better trap us inside the frame.

Até que se desse aquela « suspensão da descrença» buscada no cinema e na literatura, e passássemos para dentro do jogo da ficção aqui sugerido por uma súbita harmonia de vermelhos em meio a uma hiper pincelada que tudo abarca.

Until that 'suspension of disbelief' sought in film and literature would take place, and we would find ourselves into the game's fiction suggested here by a sudden harmony of red amid an all-encompassing brushstroke.

Outro tipo de pincel esfregava o chão de Pires do Rio. Um pincel de palha, preso com um arame a um cabo de madeira sem muitas etapas industriais que o separassem da sua origem natural.

Another kind of paintbrush scrubbed the ground in Pires do Rio. A straw paintbrush attached with a wire to a wood handle without many industrial stages separating it from its natural origin.

Esse pincel gigante não era usado para acrescentar algo, e sim para extrair impurezas da superfície.

This giant paintbrush was not used to add something, but rather to remove impurities from the surface.

Em Dijon, na exposição Estranho Rosto , havia uma sala dedicada a olhares oblíquos representados principalmente pela pintura mas também pela escultura e pela fotografia.

In Dijon, the exhibition Strange Face, there was a room dedicated to oblique glances represented mainly in painting but also in sculpture and photography.

Em Pires do Rio, olhares oblíquos podiam ocorrer em meio à tarefa diária de pincelar o chão.

In Pires do Rio, oblique glances could occur amidst the daily task of brushing the floor.

Dona Lurdes conta: “A patroa compra dessa vassoura e eu uso dessa mesmo. Ontem eu comprei uma assim lá pra casa. Comprei do moço que caiu do cavalo e ficou na cadeira de roda. Ele mesmo faz dessa vassoura. Às vezes a gente passa por lá e entra pra conversar com a mãe dele. Ela é baixinha e engraçada. Agora ela teve um aneurisma e estão os dois na cadeira de roda. Mas a irmã dele veio pra ajudar a cuidar da mãe.”

Dona Lourdes says: "The boss bought this broom and I just use it. Yesterday I bought one like that for me. I bought from the guy who fell off a horse and was left in a wheel chair. He makes the brooms himself. Sometimes we drop by and talk to his mother. She is short and funny. She had an aneurysm, though, and now they are both in wheelchairs. But his sister came to help to take care of her."

E ela parar na casa, e entrar na casa, e puxar conversa, e rir com a mãe engraçada, e usar a vassoura para trabalhar, e comprar pra ela outra vassoura, e varrer o chão parecia algo assim como atravessar a moldura e estar presente.

Mas o breve momento de suspensão da descrença logo se dissipa e a moldura volta pois mesmo a fotografia não consegue ser transparente. A moldura alheia nos reflete no espelho, reflete a graça de interagir, reflete a vassourada nossa de cada dia e
