O deserto verde se espalha sobre o cerrado. 

The green desert spreads over the Brazilian savannah.

   Plantações de eucalipto sugam a água do solo para alimentar de carvão as caldeiras das siderúrgicas. Multinacionais aliviam sua cota de carbono investindo nessas plantações que vão virar carvão para alimentar a indústria que novamente polui com carbono.

      Eucalyptus plantations suck up water from the soil to feed with coal the steel mill boilers. Multinationals relieve their carbon quota by investing in these plantations that will become coal used to feed the industry that pollute again with carbon.

 

Logo ao lado desse ciclo, outra engrenagem acontece.

     Just beside this cycle, another arrangement takes place.

     Ali as árvores são baixas, folhas e cascas são grossas para economizar a pouca umidade, e a paisagem árida dissimula eventuais oásis.

      Trees are low over there, leaves and barks are thick to save the low humidity and the arid landscape conceals occasional oasis.

Estrondo da água se espatifando nas pedras,

     Loud roar: strong stream of water 
                              crashes down on the rocks.

 

Cascata respinga no musgo e nas samambaias.

          Waterfall sprinkles on moss and ferns.

Mais adiante, marulhar da água amacia a dureza mineral.

         Further on, lapping water smoothes the mineral hardness.

 

Besouros supersônicos eletrizam a superfície da água.

Supersonic beetles electrify the water surface.

Azul cintilante das borboletas lampeja aqui e ali:

 

The glimmering blue of butterflies sparkle here and there:

 

 céu borboleteando na mata.

          sky fluttering in the woods.

Formigas grandes e incansáveis vasculham o mundo.

Big and tireless ants root through the world.

 

Folhas secas dormem sob a água transparente.

    Dried leaves sleep under transparent water.

 

Galhos se estendem acima do córrego:

Branches stretch over the creek…

água corrente cinemando no avesso das folhas.

                  ... and moving water screens reflections 
                                           on the reverse of the leaves. 

Pequeninos peixes flutuam nas nuvens.

               Tiny fishes float on the clouds.

  

Até que ao final do dia, carros transportem todos de volta à engrenagem cotidiana.

Until the end of the day, when cars take everybody back to the gearing into everyday life.

     Eles levam, porém,  a lembrança de outra ordem, a um só tempo violenta, delicada, intensa.

        They carry, however, the memory of another order that is at the same time violent, delicate and intense.
